Bio
I began translating at a young age in collaboration with my Chilean father. Together we worked on Spanish to English translations of his own creative fiction and essay work, as well as original translations of Chilean National Playwright Laureate Juan Radrigán, who is known for his use of popular slang. My interest in Latin American literature and film led to a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Hispanic Studies and Ethical Philosophy at Vassar College, and later to a Masters degree in the History of Consciousness with a parenthetical notation in Latin American and Latino Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz. My dissertation was based on fieldwork conducted primarily in Chile and engages literature, film, experimental video and new media. I have extensive experience with theoretical and literary translation, as well as subtitling films and voiceover narration, and am at ease in both English to Spanish and Spanish to English interpretation.
