Source text - French La titrisation est une opération financière par laquelle une entreprise émet de la dette qui sera rémunérée en fonction d’actifs bien déterminés au sein de l’entreprise émettrice. La titrisation transfert donc des actifs sous une forme structurée vers les investisseurs sur les marchés financiers.
Ce transfert se fait sous la forme d’une émission de titres adossés au risque des actifs sous-jacents. Pour décorréler les risques portés par les titres issus de l’opération de titrisation vendus aux investisseurs et les risques portés par l’établissement cédant les actifs sous-jacents de l’opération de titrisation, il convient d’interposer entre le cédant et l’investisseur un Fonds Commun de Créance qui va racheter les actifs titrisés. Si le cédant venait à faire faillite, les investisseurs seraient toujours assurés de recevoir des flux générés par les portefeuilles d’actifs titrisés.
En assurance, cette technique permet de rendre liquide les revenus futurs des compagnies d’assurance. On parlera de monétisation de portefeuilles d’assurance ou bien de titrisation closed block lorsqu’il s’agit de la titrisation de portefeuilles fermés d’assurance vie. Par ce biais, l’assureur va monétiser la valeur des profits futurs ce qui va lui permettre de libérer du capital qu’il pourra investir dans d’autres projets.
