English to Portuguese: From Isaac Asimov's Youth, sienci fiction, public domain General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English The Industrialist pointed out the window. "You see that road. It was built Beforethewars. I don't know exactly when. It is as good now as the day it was built. We couldn't possibly duplicate it now. The race was young when that was built, eh?"
"Then? Yes! At least they weren't afraid of new things."
"No. I wish they had been. Where is the society of Beforethewars? Destroyed, Doctor! What good were youth and new things? We are better off now. The world is peaceful and jogs along. The race goes nowhere but after all, there is nowhere to go. They proved that. The men who built the road. I will speak with your visitors as I agreed, if they come. But I think I will only ask them to go."
"The race is not going nowhere," said the Astronomer, earnestly. "It is going toward final destruction. My university has a smaller student body each year. Fewer books are written. Less work is done. An old man sleeps in the sun and his days are peaceful and unchanging, but each day finds him nearer death all the same."
Translation - Portuguese O Industrialista apontou para a janela. — Veja aquela estrada. Ela foi construída Antesdasguerras. Não sei exatamente quando. Está tão boa agora como no dia em que foi construída. Não poderíamos replicá-la agora. A raça era nova quando ela foi construída, não?
— Na época? Sim! Pelo menos eles não tinham medo de coisas novas.
— Não. Eu queria que eles tivessem. Onde está a sociedade de Antesdasguerras? Destruída, Doutor! Que bem fez a juventude e as coisas novas? Estamos melhores agora.

Bio
English <> Portuguese (Brazil) full-time translator. I'm currently working as freelancer translator (English into Brazilian Portuguese) for Lionbridge, SDL, TranscribeMe and sometimes taking direct jobs from freelancing websites. I have experience translating IT, business, marketing and videogames, as well as working in projects with teams from around the world.
Experience with translation memory software such as memoQ, SDL, Smartcat and Matecat, also proprietary software of the companies. I can easily learn how to use new software and tools.
I always loved translating and in 2018 I had the opportunity to start working as freelancer for Active Gaming Media, translating descriptions for online stores, creating attractive texts for the Brazilian audience and translating videogames and documments. In 2019 I had the opportunity to be part of the translation team of a big RPG game by Obsidian and Private Division for Lionbridge, proudly contributing with 30,000 words.
Since then I've been providing translation services for more translation companies and directly to clients through freelancing websites, working mainly with translation for marketing, IT, enterntainment etc.
Ability and experience to work in teams, including a brief experience as assistant of project coordinator, that gave me insights about the processes between companies and translation agencies.
Actively and proactively translating videos about technology for Youtube content creators (translated videos posted at: http://traduluke.blogspot.com), translating magazines and public domain books in free time, and contacting, as independent translator, content creators and talking to them how good it can be to bring their content to Portuguese.
