Source text - English Although the etiology is considered to be multifactorial (including corticosteroid use, alcohol consumption, severe immunosuppression, higher body mass index), cases of osteonecrosis have been reported particularly in patients with advanced HIV-disease and/or long-term exposure to combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). Patients should be advised to seek medical advice if they experience joint aches and pain, joint stiffness or difficulty in movement.
Translation - Maltese Għalkemm l-etjoloġija hi kkunsidrata li hi multifattorjali (li tinkludi l-użu ta' kortikosterojdi, konsum ta' l-alkoħol, immunosoppressjoni severa, indiċi ogħla tal-piż tal-ġisem), kienu rrappurtati każijiet ta' osteonekrosi partikularment f'pazjenti li jkollhom mard tal-HIV li jkun fi stadju avvanzat u/jew espożizzjoni fit-tul għal terapija antiretrovirali kombinata (combination antiretroviral therapy - cART). Il-pazjenti għandhom jingħataw parir biex jieħdu parir mediku jekk ikollhom uġigħ fil-ġogi, ebusija fil-ġogi jew jekk ikollhom diffikultà biex jitħarrku.
