MIDI is an acronym for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. The MIDI protocol has been popular among musicians since its brainchild in 1983. MIDI data conveys musical performance information and that's the reason why the MIDI protocol is greatly appreciated by composers and performers. MIDI is also widely used for multimedia applications and video games.
On the one hand, the initial lack of standardization of music synthesizers made it difficult to develop applications, but on the other hand, the subsequent introduction of the General MIDI System and support for MIDI in Windows and other operating systems have made it possible for MIDI to come into use in music software and multimedia applications. The aim of this document is to provide a general overview of the MIDI protocol.

Starting XXX
You can start XXX in the following ways:
- Double-click the XXX icon on your desktop.
- Select Run from the Windows Start menu, then enter 'X'.
- Select Programs|YYY|XXX from the Windows Start menu.
The IDE
When you first start XXX, you’ll see the IDE (integrated development environment). The IDE includes the menus, toolbars, and many other components. The particular features available will depend on which edition of XXX you have purchased. You can switch from visual design tools to text-based code editing and manually edit any code automatically generated.

INTRODUCTION
Using XYZ, you can create a recordable CD moving or copying files from your computer. For example, you can use XYZ to back up your hard disk drive, duplicate a CD and archive data.
GETTING STARTED
The following sections explain how to install and launch XYZ.
INSTALLING XYZ
To install XYZ, follow these steps:
1) Insert the XYZ CD into your CD-ROM drive.
The XYZ installation window appears.
2) Select XYZ to install the XYZ software on your computer.
3) Follow the on-screen installation instructions.
RUNNING THE APPLICATION
To launch XYZ, follow these steps:
1) Click the Start button located on the left side of the taskbar.
2) Select Programs, point to XXX, and select XYZ. The XYZ main screen appears.

I live in Perugia, Umbria, Italy. I graduated from the University of Rome with a degree in Electronic Engineering. Most of my previous experience is as a regular contributor to several Italian technical magazines specialized in Audio/MIDI ("MIDI Songs", "Cubase Magazine", "CM2", "Now Making Music"). My published articles include tutorials about music software, product tests, keyboard and software reviews. I was a member of the Italian Journalists Association - Umbria ("Ordine dei giornalisti dell'Umbria - Albo dei pubblicisti") from 2007 to 2017.
I had the chance to get some hands-on experience of computer programming, developing Windows desktop applications with Borland Delphi 7 Pro and Microsoft Visual C# 2005/2008 (and now Visual Studio 2015 Community Edition and Lazarus Free Pascal). I also created and updated dynamic websites using Perl or PHP + MySQL and I have developed a plug-in for SDL TRADOS STUDIO 2015/2017: Simple Image Viewer, a simple Image Viewer that allows the user to open and display an image file (PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF) inside Trados Studio, for reference purposes. As a translator, I mostly specialize in software translations (such as user manuals, graphical user interfaces and help files) and manuals of electronic equipment and musical instruments.
I am registered for Value Added Tax and I have a VAT registration number (VAT code).
My personal interests include playing the piano and some MIDI keyboards (Yamaha Tyros 4, PSR-670), drawing and reading.
