- Une Unité de consultation d'ophtalmologie;

Translation - English Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to submit to you the following Report on the activities of XYZ for the year 2006.
The year 2006 constitues a decisive step, for it has seen the completion of the XYZ Centre.
The XYZ Centre, situated on Rue ABC, was inaugurated on June 1, 2006 in the presence of XYZ members, government representatives, numerous donors, and friends from civil society.
The XYZ Centre includes:
- an ophthalmology clinic;
- a rehabilitation clinic for the visually impaired;
- a wetlab for the training of ophthalmologists in microsurgery with 2 surgical microscopes and ophthalmological microsurgery kits;
- a multimedia library for both ophthalmology researchers and the visually
impaired.
2006 Activity Report
The activities of XYZ are framed by its primary mission: to help prevent blindness not only in this country, but to do so at the national, regional, and international levels. This mission is comprised of several components:
- Strategic Planning
In order to be effective, blindness prevention must be carried out according to a strategic plan which takes into account the possibilities and pathologies of each country. Adopting this perspective, and drawing on its abundant experience in the field, XYZ has participated in the work of all major nationally and internationally developed programs.
- Free Treatment Activities
- By consultation (and when possible), donations of eyeglasses
- Surgery campaigns, principally of the cataract
- Tertiary prevention based on the rehabilitation and social integration of the visually impaired
My name is David Mousseau. I'm a translator, corrector, and second language teacher here in Quebec City (Canada), where I have lived for the past three years. Thus, I've studied professionally and lived my day-to-day life almost exclusively in French for many years.
As for my linguistic experience, I completed my B.A. in French (translation, grammar, and literature) at the University of Victoria in British Columbia (Canada) in 2005.
Here in Quebec, I've completed a Master's Degree (in linguistics) as well as a 1-year pedogogy certificate for second language teaching, both in French.
Furthermore, I've done extensive work as a corrector for graduate students here in Quebec City, and I'm currently helping two Ph.D. candidates write their dissertations in English! For those of you who have experience with academic writing, you know that this is no slight task, especially in a second language!
In addition to hands-on experience and a well-grounded education in linguistics, I've also developed advanced research skills. I've participated in several different scientific research projects related to linguistics: I have been a research assistant for professors, and I have done several of my own projects related to my M.A.
I'm a very curious person with a keen intellect, and when I have a question I make it my business to find answers! So if you're looking for experience, courtesy, and professionalism, it would be my pleasure to offer you my humble services.
-David Mousseau
*******************
Bonjour!
