Wnioski z badań podłoża:
Występujące w podłożu do głębokości ok. 5,0 m p.p.t. nasypy mineralne
i antropogeniczne sklasyfikowano jedynie ze względu na ich urabialność. Wydzielono warstwę 1.1 – nasypy mineralne i antropogeniczne łatwo urabialne (mieszaniny gruzowo-piaszczysto-gliniaste z humusem, namułem, popiołem itp., również występujące poniżej 3 m p.p.t. piaski namywów powodziowych
i gliniasto-próchniczne warstwy kulturowe) oraz warstwę 1.2 – części podłoża trudno urabialne (konstrukcje fundamentowe, bryły fundamentów).
Podłoże rodzime prezentuje mało skomplikowany model geologiczny. Występują w nim dwie podstawowe serie lito-stratygraficzne: holoceńskie osady rzeczne i utwory morenowe zlodowacenia południowopolskiego. Serię holoceńską budują grunty niespoiste, w części górnej piaszczyste od poziomu
8-9 m żwirowe. Charakterystyczne dla tej serii jest częsta zmiana zagęszczenia
w profilu pionowym, co sprowadza się do występowania, naprzemiennie, warstw zagęszczonych i średnio zagęszczonych. Cała seria wykazuje dobre właściwości geotechniczne, stopnie zagęszczenia ID piasków i żwirów wynoszą od 0,51 (warstwa 2.4c) do 0,71 (warstwa 2.4a). Grunty spoiste tej serii to osady madowe, gliny pylaste, piaszczyste i namuły gliniaste w stanie plastycznym
i miękkoplastycznym. Występują z reguły w stropie piasków, głębiej stwierdzono je tyko w rejonie otworów OW3 – OW2 (skraj wschodniej granicy opracowania), na głębokości 9 i 10 m p.p.t.
Utwory morenowe, jako drugi główny składnik podłoża, zbudowane są
z ciemnoszarych glin piaszczystych i piaszczystych zwięzłych z domieszką żwiru, często laminowane mikro warstewkami piaszczystymi. Ich strop położony jest na głębokości 15,5-16,5 m p.p.t. Wykazują stany półzwarte
i zwarte w części stropowej niekiedy twardoplastyczne przy stopniu plastyczności nieprzekraczającym 0,07. Jest to dobra warstwa izolacyjna umożliwiająca odcięcie wód podziemnych i odwodnienie podłoża przy fundamentowaniu poniżej lustra wód podziemnych.
Translation - English In total, the following works have been executed: 498 m of mechanical drilling (including documented borehole transitions), 95 probings with cylindrical sampler SPT and 27.2 m of DPL probings.
The conclusions from the subsoil survey:
The mineral and anthropogenic made grounds, occurring down to the depth of about 5.0 m below the surface, were classified only with respect to their workability. Layer 1.1 was separated: mineral and anthropogenic made ground, easily workable (debris-sand-clay mix with humus, aggregate mud, ash etc., also, occurring beneath the 3rd m below the surface, sands from inundation silts and clay-humus culture stratum), and the layer 1.2 – subsoil with poor workability (foundation structures, foundation structure elements).
The virgin soil represents rather uncomplicated geological model, in which there are two basic litho-stratygraphic series: Holocene fluvial deposits and moraine foundations from the South-Polish glaciation. The Holocene series consists of non-cohesive soils, in the upper part sandy, from the level of 8-9 m – gravel soils.
Typical of that series is the frequent variation of compaction in the vertical soil profile, that means, compact and medium compact strata occur alternately one after another. The whole series displays good geotechnical conditions, density indices of sands and gravels range from 0.51 (layer 2.4c) to 0.71 (layer 2.4a). Cohesive soils in that series are: fen soil deposits, silty and sandy clays, clayey aggregate muds, soft and very soft. They typically occur in the upper part of sands; they were found deeper only in the area of the boreholes OW3 – OW2 (at the periphery of the Eastern borderline), at the depth of 9 and 10 m below the surface.
Moraine formations, as the second major subsoil component, consist of dark grey sandy clays and compact sandy clays with the admixture of gravel, often laminated with sandy micro-layers. Their upper part is located at the depth of 15.5-16.5 m below the surface. They are half-stiff and stiff in the upper part – sometimes firm, with plasticity index that does not exceed 0.07. That constitutes a good insulating layer, which makes it possible to keep off groundwater influx and to dewater the subsoil when the foundation work takes place below the water table.

Source text - Polish W pierwszym etapie wykonano badania pali wierconych wielkośrednicowych i pali prefabrykowanych wbijanych. Wykluczono zatem technologie z ograniczoną kontrolą procesu formowania oraz ograniczoną kontrolą tworzywa pala. Pale wiercone o dużych średnicach, wykonywane były w rurach osłonowych z pewnym naddatkiem, który jest następnie skuwany. Pozwala to na uformowanie poziomej powierzchni głowicy pala i ułatwia pomiar, po uprzednim przygotowaniu powierzchni przez jej lokalne przeszlifowanie. W przypadku pali prefabrykowanych nie ma nawet konieczności specjalnego przygotowywania głowicy pala (poza oczyszczeniem), dlatego czas potrzebny na przebadanie jednego pala wynosi zaledwie kilka minut. Krótki czas badania pozwala nawet na przebadanie wszystkich pali w fundamencie, gdy wykonywana jest budowla o dużym znaczeniu.
Celem badań była próba oceny przydatności metod badawczych do kontroli pali o zróżnicowanej smukłości wykonywanych w porównywalnych warunkach geotechnicznych. Należy zauważyć, że zarówno w odniesieniu do pali prefabrykowanych jak i pali wierconych w rurach pojawiają się czasami pytania dotyczące ich długości, pola przekroju a także tworzywa (betonu). Smukłość natomiast, zwłaszcza w odniesieniu do pali prefabrykowanych wbijanych, może znacząco utrudnić interpretację otrzymanych wyników, stąd wybór odpowiedniej metody badań może być kluczowy.
2. Badania terenowe
Do badań wybrano pale wykonywane w podporach obiektu mostowego. Badania terenowe wykonano w maju 2009 roku przy słonecznej pogodzie. Warunki atmosferyczne są istotne bowiem w metodzie PIT akcelerometr przyklejany jest do głowicy pala, która nie powinna być wilgotna. Badanie nie jest możliwe jedynie w momencie, gdy głowica pala jest bardzo uszkodzona i nie można znaleźć powierzchni prostopadłej do osi pala. Metoda Impulse-Response s’Mash nie stawia takich wymagań bowiem rejestracja sygnału następuje przy użyciu geosłuchawki stykającej się jedynie z badaną powierzchnią. Powierzchnia ta w miejscu uderzenia młotkiem powinna być jednak gładka (przeszlifowana).
Wykorzystując obydwie metody badawcze przebadano ogółem:
4 wybrane pale wiercone o średnicy 1,5 m i deklarowanej długości 17,0 m, (rys. 3)
25 prefabrykowanych pali wbijanych o wymiarach przekroju poprzecznego 0,40x040 m i gwarantowanej długości 12,0 m (spośród 52 pali prefabrykowanych w podporze palowej przebadanych metodą PIT) (rys. 4).
Pale wiercone i pale prefabrykowane wykonywane były w podobnych warunkach geotechnicznych. Od powierzchni terenu zalegały warstwy mad i piasków rzecznych o łącznej miąższości 4-8 m. Podstawy pali pogrążone były w warstwie iłów, iłów pylastych i pyłów w stanie twardoplastycznym i półzwartym.
Translation - English At the first stage, the tests on large-diameter bored piles and pre-cast concrete driven piles were performed. That means that the technologies with the limited control of the forming process and the limited control of pile material were excluded from investigation. Bored piles with large diameters were made in casings with a certain allowance which is later hacked off. That makes it possible to form a horizontal surface of the pile head and facilitates the measurement, after the surface has been prepared by its local grinding. As far as pre-cast concrete piles are concerned, it is not even necessary to prepare the pile head (apart from its cleansing), hence it takes only a couple of minutes to test one pile. Short testing time makes it possible to investigate all the piles in the foundation, when the importance of the on-going building construction is great.
The aim of the tests was an attempt at the assessment of the usefulness of exploratory methods for the control of piles with diverse slenderness ratio but installed in comparable geotechnical conditions. It is worth noticing that as far as both the pre-cast concrete piles and the piles bored in casings are concerned, there occur the questions concerning their length, cross-sectional area, as well as material (concrete). Slenderness ratio, however, especially with respect to driven pre-cast concrete piles, may significantly hinder the interpretation of the obtained results, hence, the choice of an optimal method may prove crucial.
1.field tests
For the purpose of the field tests the piles executed at the bridge structure supports were selected. The field tests were carried out in May 2009 in sunny weather. Weather conditions are important because in the PIT method the accelerometer is glued to the pile head, which should not be wet. The test is not possible only in the situation when the pile head is thoroughly damaged and no surface perpendicular to the pile axis may be found. Impulse-Response s’Mash metod is not that demanding, since the signal is recorded by means of a geo-receiver that only contacts the examined surface. That surface should be smooth (reground), though, at the place that the hammer hits.
The investigation using both exploratory methods entailed:
4 selected bored piles with the diameter of 1.5 m and the declared length of 17.0 m, (Fig. 3)
25 driven pre-cast concrete piles with the cross section dimensions of 0.400.40 m and the guaranteed length of 12.0 m (among 52 pre-cast concrete piles in the pile support investigated by means of PIT) (Fig. 4)
The bored piles and pre-cast concrete piles were constructed in similar geotechnical conditions. Down from the ground surface there were fen soils and river sands with the overall thickness of 48 m. The pile bases were submerged in a layer of clays, silty clays and silts, firm and half-stiff.
