Hi we are developing a new program for translation agencies. Would anyone like to comment what they are missing in their current software? When we have finished developing it, we will send most posters the beta version so they can test it out themselves.

Finished Developing? Apr 12, 2008

When I worked in a translation agency, I developed software, too.
The main problem was that the more you will have developed, the more will be missing.

Shortcoming can not be publisied Apr 12, 2008

Dear Garboktrans,

Its nice to know that you are developing a new software/program for translation agency.

Telling shortcomings of an already existing software PUBLICLY may be objectionable to the software developers and sellers.

If you can let me know your email address, we may give you a good feedback regarding this.

We are not asking anyone to PUBLICLY specify the name of the software, we are only asking them what they are lacking in the software they are using (they don't have to give the name) and what features they would like to have available.

Two things for me Apr 12, 2008

There are two things that I miss (or have not found out if they exist or how to use them):
1. A concordance functionality in the current document. Most (All?) CAT tools offer concordance of files which had been translated previously. What I am missing is the ability to list all occurences of a given phrase in the current document I am working on.
2. A "meter" showing how much is left of the document to translate, or how much has been translated of the document, e.g. a text box / mess

2. A "meter" showing how much is left of the document to translate, or how much has been translated of the document, e.g. a text box / message in the status bar saying "70% done" or "1234 words/characters out of 2345 left". This does not have to be visible all the time - could be activated by a hot key or icon.

Neither of those is crucial, but these would be 'nice to have' features I miss.

If you would like to pick my brain in private do not hesitate to contact me.

Déjà Vu X has both 1. ("Filter on selection") and 2. (scroll bar for merged files), and they are indeed very useful.
