Although it may not be the kind of "platform" that the people proposing the query had in mind. One of my direct clients, not a translation agency, has an online platform for the translation of strings for its software suites, while other types of texts are delivered and returned in the currently normal fashion, i.e. by email.

This is what I had in mind when answering the poll.
I am relatively new to freelancing and at present time I use LinkedIn, ProZ, Twitter, Translators cafe and now I am also about to build my Facebook page. I also use Instagram for work purposes.
I would say that as a newbie I have found LinkedIn and ProZ the most useful.
But, as I said, I am testing the waters at this stage.

MateCat. Fantastic. When it's down: WordfastAnywhere. But the MT can't hold a candle to MateCat.

What about SmartCAT and Crowdin? Have you ever worked at any of them? I'd like to know your opinion about them compared to MateCat...

MateCate surprised me a lot when I used it for the first time.
I still believe that human intelligence shall never be replaced by machines in our industry. But the language barriers between Roman languages and Asian characters seemed to be greatly narrowed by MateCate... at least in my own experience.
SmartCat is better in statistics report and formatting different files I think.
Am Not familiar with Crowdin but would love to try.

Because many agencies have their own platforms, and many with their own CAT tools.
I wasn't thinking of the ones mentioned above.

It does not take long to update your profiles does it?
As I said, I am testing the waters whenever I can. Perhaps it was different when you were starting out 34 years ago. Anyhow, it looks like this is not the type of platform the person who created this poll had in mind . Some agencies I work with use their own platforms and their own CAT tools. Therefore, I can understand why some translators ticked 5 and above.

I hate to sound like an ad, but the MT on MateCat is mind-blowing. Much better than anything else I've tried. I cannot conceive of working without it, or something of its quality, any longer.

I always say that giving MT to a non-native, unqualified translator is like giving a chainsaw to a child; it's powerful, but dangerous in the wrong hands.
And, to extend the metaphor, good for cutting logs (basic translations; and useless for creating works of art (literature).

Well, I don't think that SmartCAT or Crowdin has good MT. Probably they have built-in Google Translate or something like that. I am more interested in other CAT features so I haven't paid much attention to their MT.
It seems that MateCat is something worth try (at least). So, thank you for the tip

If I understand the question correctly, I use my clients' platforms (some of which have matched corpora, glossaries, and translation tools), KudoZ and KudoZ glossaries, Linguee, Merriam-Webster, and many other dictionaries. Probably more than 10.
