When I want to take a short break from work, I like to - play with my cat - walk around my flat - brush my teeth - prepare to cook - do the washing up - catch up on the latest news - email people - read stuff - make grocery list - listen to the radio - read these forums (which I'm doing now because I've just completed a rather demanding translation job) - think about my exciting life

Usually I do what I feel like doing. This could be a number of things, make private phone/Skype calls, write emails, private, of course, refill my cup of black gold, go out on my balcony, yes, even if we happen to have a winter, the list is endless. Or I just sit back, relax, and enjoy doing nothing.

I do 15-20 minutes of abs exercise or I take care of the garden.
I spend a ridiculous amount of time playing online quizzes. The dust can wait. | | | Tina Vonhof (X) Canada Local time: 13:53 Dutch to English + ... A few possibilities | Feb 5, 2020 |
It depends how how much time I can afford to take. I almost always have a good book going, so I may read another chapter or two. Or on a longer break I run (my car that is) to the store because I'm often out of apples, eggs, or whatever.

Jogging, boxing, but I can only do either of these once a day. The second best option is falling upon the mattress and pretending to be a dead log. A short meditation helps to regain the concentration if I have to work for more than 7 hours a day and in general, or the second best option together with a good interpretation of some classical piece or good ambient music. Elizabeth Tamblin wrote: I spend a ridiculous amount of time playing online quizzes. The dust can wait. And I am addicted to taking vocabulary/grammar tests in languages that I speak, learn, or even have never learned but kind of understand to some extent because Italian is similar to Spanish, and both are rather similar to French. Cooking helps me to relax too, and it is pleasant as well - especially if you have a good audiobook in a [beautiful foreign language] you can listen to while cooking - and in the end, you get a reward for something as relaxing as cooking, at least if you're a good cook.

In order of priority: - Tidy up around the house - Answer personal email correspondence - Take a walk - Fix a meal - Browse the Internet - Read a bit from a book - For those not old enough to remember, I'm speaking of a stack of printed sheets of paper bound on the left side so you can turn them conveniently as you move from one page to the next. | | | Mario Freitas Brazil Local time: 16:53 Member (2014) English to Portuguese + ... What I would like to versus What I actually do | Feb 6, 2020 |
I would like to take a walk, rest a little bit, etc. But what I actually do is housework. It's not optional, really. It's either that, or the translation will be delayed, the housework won't be done, or I won't eat.
