Remdamasis Lietuvos Respublikos Konstitucijos man suteiktais įgaliojimais, teikiu Andriaus Kubiliaus kandidatūrą Respublikos Ministro Pirmininko pareigoms.
Naujojo Seimo rinkimai parodė, kad mūsų piliečiai labiausiai pasitiki politine jėga, vadovaujama Andriaus Kubiliaus. Palyginti greitos ir dalykiškos derybos bei susitarimas dėl valdančiosios koalicijos sudarymo suteikia vilčių tikėtis ir tokio pat efektyvaus jo vadovaujamos Vyriausybės darbo.
Prieš dešimtmetį taip pat nelengvu Lietuvai metu perėmęs vadovavimą ministrų kabinetui, Andrius Kubilius atsiskleidė kaip ryžtingas politikas, nemažai prisidėjęs prie ūkio stabilizavimo Rusijos finansinės krizės metu.
Tokios pat ryžtingos ir dalykiškos veiklos Lietuvai reikia šiandien. Be dabarties problemų, atėjusių kartu su pasauline finansų krize ir prasidedančiu ekonominiu sunkmečiu, mus slegia ir įsisenėję rūpesčiai, stabdo neatliktos būtinos pertvarkos. Lietuva jau daug yra prisiklausiusi tuščių kalbų apie reformų būtinybę.
Tačiau krizė ar sunkmetis neretai priverčia neatidėliojant imtis ryžtingų veiksmų ir ieškoti naujoviškų sprendimų. Būtent tokių žingsnių iš Andriaus Kubiliaus Vyriausybės tikiuosi kartu su daugybe Lietuvos piliečių.
Vienas pirmųjų neatidėliotinų naujosios Vyriausybės žingsnių -- kitų metų biudžeto sudarymas. Lietuvos ūkiui teks atremti du iššūkius: išlaikyti valstybės finansų stabilumą ir kartu -- taikomas priemones susieti su viešojo sektoriaus reformomis. Protingai suformuotas biudžetas leistų tai padaryti ir kartu taptų geru ženklu investuotojams.
Biudžeto išlaidų ribojimas ir mokesčių sistemos pakeitimai negali prieštarauti ar kenkti politiniams šalies prioritetams. Pirmiausia turime išlaikyti būtiną finansavimo lygį pagrindinėms valstybės funkcijoms ir struktūrinėms reformoms bei ekonomikos konkurencingumui stiprinti.
Privalome veikti ryžtingai, tačiau prieš tai gerai pasvėrę kiekvieno siūlymo pasekmes.
Būsimajam premjerui ir būsimajai Vyriausybei linkėčiau: priimdami sprendimus, atsakančius į dabarties klausimus ir iššūkius, visada atsižvelkite į ateities perspektyvą ir įvertinkite priimtų sprendimų galimus padarinius.
Ligšiolinė Andriaus Kubiliaus veikla, jo profesinės ir žmogiškosios savybės leidžia tikėtis sąžiningo ir efektyvaus vadovavimo būsimajai Vyriausybei. By the powers vested in me by the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania, I submit the candidature of Andrius Kubilius for Prime Minister for consideration.
Latest parliamentary elections have shown that mostly our citizens put their trust in the political force led by Andrius Kubilius. Comparatively quick and substantive negotiations and agreement on the formation of ruling coalition allow us the hope that government under his leadership will work with the same effectiveness.
When a decade ago, during a time that was also quite difficult for Lithuania, Andrius Kubilius has taken over the Cabinet, he showed himself as a decisive politician, having substantially contributed to the economy stabilization in the times of Russian financial crisis.
Today Lithuania needs the same decisive and efficient management. Apart from current problems, which came along with worldwide financial crisis and the coming times of economical hardships, we also have inveterate troubles and are hindered because necessary reforms aren’t carried out. Lithuania has certainly had enough of idle talks about the necessity of reforms.
Nevertheless, crisis or time of hardships often calls for immediate and decisive actions, and for the search of innovative solutions. Such are the moves I expect from Andrius Kubilius’ government, as well as from the people of Lithuania.
One of the primary and urgent tasks of the new government is to estimate the budget for the next year. Lithuania’s economy will have to deal with two challenges: to uphold the country’s financial stability and at the same time to connect the means applied with reforms in the external sector. Well-formed budget would allow that, and at the same time it would become a good omen for the investors.
Budget expense restrictions and changes of tax system mustn’t contradict or do harm to the country’s political priorities. Our primary concern is to keep up the necessary financing of principal state functions, structural reforms and improvement of economy’s competitive ability.
We need to act decisively, but only after a careful consideration of the consequences of each proposition.
My wishes for the future prime minister and future government: when making decisions in response to current concerns and challenges, always consider the future perspective and estimate the possible consequences of the decisions you make.
The activity of Andrius Kubilius up to this day, his professional and human qualities allow us to expect a conscientious and effective leadership of the future government. As the head of state who had a working experience with prime minister Andrius Kubilius, I trust and believe this politician, and I ask Parliament to confirm his candidacy for the office of Prime Minister.

However, textual analysis suggests that this fragment actually preserves a very early form of the Song, perhaps from the mid-sixth century.]
[And so after many battles with] Umaril's allies, where dead Aurorans lay like candlelight around the throne, the Pelinal became surrounded by the last Ayleid sorcerer-kings and their demons, each one heavy with varliance. The Whitestrake cracked the floor with his mace and they withdrew, and he said, "Bring me Umaril that called me out!" ... [And] while mighty in his aspect and wicked, deathless-golden Umaril favored ruin-from-afar over close combat and so he tarried in the shadows of the white tower before coming forth. More soldiers were sent against Pelinal to die, and yet they managed to pierce his armor with axes and arrows, for Umaril had wrought each one by long varliance, which he had been hoarding since his first issue [of challenge.]... [Presently] the half-Elf [showed himself] bathed in [Meridian light] ... and he listed his bloodline in the Ayleidoon and spoke of his father, a god of the [previous kalpa's] World-River and taking great delight in the heavy-breathing of Pelinal who had finally bled... Она вздохнула, закрыла крышку инструмента и вышла в центр комнаты. Вскоре перед ней появился приятной наружности молодой человек, в сутане и с изящной тростью с золотым набалдашником. Вошедший молча поклонился даме, после чего застыл перед ней с нескрываемым восхищением во взгляде. Повисла неловкая пауза, и девушка, улыбнувшись, заговорила первой:
- Приветствую, отец Ксарксес. Я рада приветсвовать вас в качестве своего нового духовного наставника, - она сдержанно улыбнулась, - хотя не могу не заметить, что представляла вас несколько более... старшим.
- О, прошу простить мою неучтивость, - отозвался священник. - Видите ли, я оказался в схожем положении, и теперь подозреваю, что меня разыгрывают.
- "Разыгрывают"? Прошу вас, объяснитесь, - девушка приподняла брови.
- Я ожидал встретиться здесь с Имперской принцессой Аделиндой, но глаза мои не позволяют считать стоящее предо мной создание за смертную девушку. - Леность ведет к невежеству и душевному отчаянию. Не должно оставлять благочинные занятия ради досужих увеселений.
- Я буду помнить, отче. Помимо лености, я также грешна алчностью. Я окружена роскошью и богатством, но не могу устоять перед тем, чтобы приобретать новые платья, украшения и прочие ценности.
- Несложно понять причину сего искуса, ведь прекрасное притягивается прекрасным, - Ксарксес улыбнулся, одарив принцессу тем же восхищенным взглядом, каким ее встретил. - Однако стоит помнить, дитя мое, что истинная красота и богатство не в золоте и самоцветах, но в духовных добродетелях.
- Истинно так, святой отец, - в смущении от его улыбки ответила та, поспешно пряча глаза от взгляда молодого человека. - Я виновна в еще одном прегрешении... вернее, в двух сразу. Видите ли, на меня часто находит горделивость и высокомерие из-за моего богатсва и положения, и в то же время я нередко завидую чужим достоянию, счастью, красоте или известности.
- Вот как? Да, занятное сочетание... Что ж, дочь моя, тебе необходимо помнить, что все, чем мы обладаем, дано нам Владычицей Всемогущей, каждому по мере его, в соответствии с Ее мудростью.
- Да, я понимаю... А еще, святой отец, я нередко из-за того же высокомерия злюсь и кричу на слуг и камеристок, если они совершают какой-нибудь проступок, и порой даже побиваю...

- Да, отче, - ответила та и, помолчав немного, спросила. - Могу ли я получить отпущение?
- А, так это уже все твои грехи, дитя мое? - отозвался аббат.
Девушка утвердительно кивнула.
- Ну что ж... - Ксарксес встал. - Итак: леность, алчность, гордыня, зависть, гнев и ложь... Шесть грехов, дочь моя! Как видно, не такой уж ты и ангел, как мне показалось с первого взгляда!
- Я раскаиваюсь в своих прегрешениях, отче! Даруйте мне отпущение!
- Шесть грехов... Шесть... - пробормотал священник, словно не слыша ее. - Сие дурное число. Нечестивое.
- Нечестивое, святой отец? И что же теперь?
- Даже не знаю, дитя мое... - задумчиво промолвил тот.

She sighed, closed the instrument’s lid and walked to the center of the room. A handsome man in priest’s robes came in, carrying an elegant gold-headed cane, silently bowed to the lady and stopped in front of her, watching her with visible admiration while not speaking a word. In order to break this rather awkward pause, she smiled and spoke first:
"Greetings, Father Xarxes. Although I’m quite surprised to discover that you’re younger than I imagined, I am delighted to welcome you as my new spiritual director."
"Oh, please forgive me my impoliteness," the priest replied. "It is that I feel myself being tricked the reason I have kept silence until this moment."
"'Being tricked'? What do you mean by that, Father Abbot?" she raised her eyebrows.
"I was told I am to see the Imperial princess Adelinda here, but there is no way I could believe that what I see now is a mortal girl. Rather than that, I believe it is a heavenly angel that I behold, for, indeed, no creature of this mortal world could hold so much beauty and divine elegance in itself."
"My, my," Adelinda chuckled, her cheeks grew pink. "I am embarrassed. Please don’t make me blush. I am really just a king’s young daughter, with mortal sins and passions, and yet eager to enlighten my soul with your religious teachings."
"Then I am most happy to offer whatever aid I am capable of, my child," said Xarxes. "And, to begin, please, let us take a seat. If you are to refine your soul in the divine light of the faith, you must first relieve it of all your sins."
The two sat on the golden-framed sofa upholstered in burgundy satin, and Xarxes held out his incrusted golden cross.
"Einhasad’s grace upon you. Confess your sins and be absolved, my child," he uttered solemnly.
"Yes, Father," the princess kissed the cross and then sat straight, with head humbly bowed down and both hands placed together. "I have been slothful, Father. I spent my days in frivolous diversions, neglecting my education."
"Sloth leads to ignorance and despair of soul. One must never abandon his righteous studies to the futile entertainment."
"I will remember that, Father. I also have been avaricious. I have collected many a precious jewel and furnishing, and yet I am eager to obtain more and more of those beautiful articles."
"I can understand this passion of yours, my child, for the beautiful always attracts the beautiful," Xarxes smiled, giving Adelinda the same admiring look he greeted her with. "However, one must always remember that the true beauty lies neither in gold nor in jewels, but in the virtues of the spirit."
"As you say, Father," she replied, blushing at his smile and quickly lowering her gaze to escape the young man’s eyes. "I have another sin to confess… that is, two of them. You see, I am often being very haughty, taking great pride in my title, appearance and riches, and yet I sometimes get jealous of somebody’s possessions, happiness, natural beauty or popularity…"
"Is it so? Ah, yes, quite a conundrum… Well then, my daughter, you should always keep in mind that all we have is given to us by the Almighty, and given to each by Her wisdom, which is absolute and undoubted."
"I understand, Father. Oh, and there is yet another sin I must confess. As I said, I am haughty at times, especially with servants and my handmaidens, and, when they fail at something, I can easily get very angry and even occasionally beat them…"
"You should learn to forgive, my child. For how can the Goddess forgive us our sins if we do not forgive the others’ misdeeds?"
"You are right, Father, I will remember that. And one more sin that I remembered. I… lie to people frequently about how I feel with them or what I think of this or that. I know it is a sin to tell lies, but, well, I think you would understand that a person of my status is bound to use such methods to abide by the rules of the high life. You are an aristocrat yourself, so..."
"Now, my child," the priest interrupted her, frowning. "This is a confession you make. You must acknowledge and repent your sins, not justify them. Falsehood is a grave sin against the chastity of the Divine Truth of Einhasad. If you will accept falsehood as a legitimate part of your life, you will eventually sink in lies, so much that people and even the goddess Herself will turn away from you. Such a vice must be avoided whenever possible, for one must remember every lie is going to be discovered sooner or later."
"Yes, Father," she paused for some time. "Will you grant me absolution now?"
"Ah, so these are all your sins, my daughter?" asked the abbot.
She nodded assent.
"Well, then…" Xarxes stood up. "If I recall correctly, there was sloth, avarice, pride, envy, wrath and falsehood… Six sins, my child! It appears not such an angel you are as I assumed for the first time, are you?"
"I repent my sins, Father! Please absolve me of them!"
"Six sins… Six…" the priest muttered, as if he wasn’t hearing her. "A foul number that is. Ungodly."
"Ungodly, Father Abbot? And what shall we do with that?"
"I cannot tell, my child…" Xarxes uttered, meditating.
