Do you know that Sumerian proverb
'A man's wife is his destiny'?
But supposing you'd been here,
This most strange of meeting places,
5000 years too early? Or me,
a fraction of century too late?
No angel with SF wings would have beconed,
'This way, madam, this way, sir.'
Have you ever, at a beach,
Aimed one small pebble
At another, thrown high, higher?
And though what ends
happily
is never the end,
and though the secret is
there's another secret always,
because this, because that,
because on high the Blessed
were playing ring-a-ring-o'-roses,
because million of miles below,
during the Rasoumovsky,
the cellist, pizzicati,
played a comic, wrong note,
you looked to the right, luckily,
I looked to the left, luckily.

Znasz może tę myśl Sumerów
'Żona mężczyzny jego przeznaczeniem'?
Lecz przypuśćmy, że stawiłabyś się tu,
W tym najdziwniejszym z domów schadzek,
5000 lat przed czasem? Albo ja,
spóźniony zaledwie o cząstkę stulecia?
Żaden fantastycznie oskrzydlony anioł
nie kiwnął by palcem -
'Tutaj, proszę pani; tędy, sir.'
Powiedz, czy kiedyś, na plaży
Celowałaś niedużym kamykiem
W inny, rzucony wysoko - i wyżej?
I choć to, co się kończy
dobrze
nigdy nie jest końcem,
i choć tajemnicą jest
to, że w zanadrzu pozostaje zawsze tajemnica,
ponieważ to, bo tamto, i
bo na wysokościach zbawionych stadko
pląsało w kółku graniastym,
ponieważ milion mil poniżej,
w kwartet Razumowskiego,
wiolonczelista, szarpiąc pizzicata,
wplótł koślawą, źle chwyconą nutę,
spojrzałaś w prawo, na szczęście,
spojrzałem w lewo, szczęśliwie.
German to Polish: "Heimat bauen? Heimat – Identifikation – Denkmal" Jürgen Tietz, Denksalon Revitalisierender Städtebau 2010 General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: Social Science, Sociology, Ethics, etc.

Translation - Polish Pojęcie ojczyzny prywatnej posiada, poza przestrzennym, również wymiar czasowy.
Czas i miejsce dzieciństwa tracą znaczenie. Doświadczenia XX wieku rozprzęgają, podkreślane od czasów romantyzmu (…), utożsamienie dzieciństwa i ojczyzny. Potrzeba ojczyzny pozostaje.
