My name's Lidia and I'm a technical freelance translator specialized in automation, electronics, hardware, software and mechanics based in Southern Italy. My career in brief
My career as freelancer is quite recent but my experience in the field of translation dates back to April 1994, when I started working for an engineering company (Fast s.r.l.) and translating manuals and documentations from and into English and from German for internal use. Thanks to my translation-oriented education and skills, in 1995 Fast introduced to their clientele a technical translation service providing on-time and cost-effective translation of user's manuals, quality standards, quality procedures and technical documentations. The collaboration with FAST gave me the chance to acquire competences and sectorial languages and enhance my proficiency in technical translation with particular reference to industrial automation, electronic instrumentation, electromechanical equipment, software and quality systems.
In 2001, due to the closing of FAST, I started working at TND Elettronica, leading automation company of South Italy as secretary, language assistant and technical translator. My collaboration with TND gave me the chance to deepen my knowledge of specific languages and view automation and electronics applications live.
In addition, due to the increasing demand of company visibility on the web, in 2008 I started traslating TND website,
www.tndel.com, into English and creating new sections in both available languages. This way I could acquire fundaments and competences of web editing and html, as well as basic SEO techniques. At present, I'm committed in updating TND site with new developed applications and enhancing the site visibility.
In the meantime, my experience of website translation broadened to fashion and apparel: in 2009 I translated the website of an Italian leather manufacturer, i.e.
www.massimofrattasio.it, thus approaching to a new field of competence that proved precious for my future works.
In october 2012 I initiated a collaboration with a leading Italian e-commerce company as freelance translator and localizer of templates and webpages with EN>IT language combination.
