Bio

I am a Chinese (simplified and traditional) to English translator. I am from the UK and have been based in Taiwan since 2004. I hold a Ph.D. in Political Science from National Taiwan University and have worked in translation since 2007.

My academic translations have appeared in many peer-reviewed journals across a range of disciplines, including Applied Mathematics and Information Sciences, Applied Mechanics and Materials, Advances in Materials Science and Engineering, The International Journal of Cultural and Creative Industries, Journal of Sustainable Development, and Asian Survey. I also do translation work in other fields, including legal, tourism, marketing, finance, business, commerce, and manufacturing.

Recent projects include the translation of exhibits and visitor information for the Ching-kuo Chi-hai Cultural Park and Chiang Ching-kuo Presidential Library in Taipei, Taiwan.

In June 2020, I set up WB Languages, Co. Ltd. to serve Taiwanese customers seeking Chinese–English translation and editing of English documents.

I have a part-time role as Head Translator for Du Chinese (a Chinese learning app), responsible for managing a team of translators and ensuring translation quality.

I also work part-time for Gengo.com as a Language Specialist responsible for translator recruitment, ensuring the quality of translation work, and reviewing translator performance.

Aside from translation work, I also teach political science part-time at National Taiwan University.
