Source text - English The interplay between adolescents’ social contexts and their development and well-being is of compelling interest to clinical child psychologists, developmental researchers, child mental health practitioners, as well as countless parents working to make sense of their teenage children. An issue that
has attracted considerable contemporary interest within academic fields is the nature of adolescents’ transition to adulthood (Arnett & Tanner, 2006 ).
As theorists, investigators, and clinicians interested in the links between family process and individual development, we especially want this dialogue to focus on how experiences in one’s family of origin influence this key passage in youths’ life course. Increased autonomy from one’s family and the establishment of more
mature peer and romantic relationships are important markers of the transition through adolescence, but the context and nature of this autonomy continue to merit close study. Important social and cultural influences ensure that there is variation in the degree to which these hallmarks of adolescent maturation are valued. As theorists, investigators, and clinicians interested in the influence and importance of family relationships, we want to ensure that research on the transition to emerging adulthood focuses on both the influence of one’s family of origin and adolescents’ emerging relationships with peers and romantic partners that become the basis of their families in adulthood. To this end, as its name implies,
the purpose of this volume is to explore our current understanding regarding how development in the family context during a youth’s adolescent years sets the stage for the adulthood that lies just beyond.
Translation - Indonesian Hubungan yang saling mempengaruhi antara konteks sosial remaja dengan perkembangan serta kesejahteraan mereka merupakan minat yang menarik bagi psikolog anak klinis, peneliti perkembangan, praktisi kesehatan mental anak, juga sejumlah besar orang tua yang ingin memahami anak remaja mereka. Sebuah isu yang telah menarik minat kontemporer yang cukup besar di dalam bidang akademik adalah sifat transisi remaja ke usia dewasa (Arnett & Tanner, 2006 ).
Sebagai pembuat teori, investigator, dan dokter yang tertarik pada hubungan antara proses keluarga dengan perkembangan individu, kami secara khusus menginginkan dialog ini untuk terfokus pada bagaimana pengalaman dalam keluarga asal mempengaruhi bagian kunci dalam jalan hidup para muda ini. Meningkatnya otonomi dari keluarga seseorang serta terbentuknya hubungan pertemanan serta hubungan romantis yang matang merupakan penanda penting transisi melalui masa remaja, namun konteks dan sifat otonomi ini pantas untuk terus dikaji secara saksama.
