Source text - French Les clients typiques d'une épicerie électronique (EGS) en Finlande sont de riches familles à double carrière avec de jeunes enfants, qui vivent dans les grandes villes. Leurs avantages escomptés, leur temps et leurs efforts réduits, sont au moins assez bien atteints par les BSE existants. Lorsque nous comparons les utilisateurs et les non-utilisateurs de BSE à nos données, nous constatons qu'en plus de la taille du ménage, évidemment importante, les problèmes critiques sont triples et liés à: la principale raison de choisir un canal électronique par rapport à un un; les préférences des consommateurs entre un niveau de prix inférieur et un meilleur service; et les besoins d'information des clients.
Translation - English The typical customers in an electronic grocery store (EGS) in Finland are wealthy dual-career families with small children, who live around large cities. Their expected benefits, reduced time and effort, are at least fairly well met by the existing EGSs. When comparing the users and the non-users of EGSs in our data, we find that in addition to the evidently important size of the household, the critical issues are threefold, and related to: the primary reason to choose an electronic channel over a traditional one; consumer preferences between lower price-level and better service; and information needs of the customers.
English to French: Adoption of Online Grocery Shopping: Personal or Household Characteristics?
Source text - English This article analyzes how sociodemographic characteristics impact the adoption of online grocery shopping, and relies on the Motivation-Opportunity-Ability (MOA) model to explore what these sociodemographics actually capture and how they are linked with consumer motivations. The researchers exploit a survey among 468 customers of Belgian supermarket chain Colruyt. Their logistic regression shows that while variables at the personal level do affect adoption of the online channel, consumers’ motivations to adopt in fact lie on the household level. In particular, the effect of age disappears or becomes less strong when it is combined with household characteristics. An examination of respondents’ self-reported motivations confirms that age does not only capture a person’s ability to use the technology but also its usefulness for that person’s household, in that age is correlated with the presence of young children and the working situation in the household.
Translation - French Cet article analyse comment les caractéristiques sociodémographiques influent sur l'adoption de l'épicerie en ligne et s'appuie sur le modèle MOA (Motivation-Opportunity-Ability) pour explorer ce que ces données sociodémographiques captent réellement et comment elles sont liées aux motivations des consommateurs. Les chercheurs exploitent une enquête auprès de 468 clients de la chaîne de supermarchés belge Colruyt. Leur régression logistique montre que si les variables au niveau personnel affectent l'adoption du canal en ligne, les motivations des consommateurs à adopter se situent en réalité au niveau du ménage. En particulier, l'effet de l'âge disparaît ou devient moins fort lorsqu'il est combiné aux caractéristiques du ménage. L'examen des motivations auto déclarées par les répondants confirme que l'âge ne tient pas seulement compte de la capacité d'utiliser la technologie mais aussi de son utilité pour le ménage de cette personne, cet âge étant corrélé à la présence de jeunes enfants et à la situation de travail du ménage .
English to French: Determinants of consumers' repeat online buying of groceries
Source text - English This study developed and empirically tested a model for understanding what factors determine repeat buying behaviour of already experienced online grocery consumers. Data were collected from 198 consumers who currently buy groceries via the Internet. The obtained Lisrel results suggest that consumers' attitude towards online grocery buying is positively affected by perceived offline physical effort and negatively affected by offline shopping enjoyment. Multi group analysis shows that the strength of these relations differed across several consumer characteristics. Also, it was found that a perceived high Internet grocery risk does not form an action barrier for consumers who already have a positive attitude towards online grocery buying. The results also indicate that consumers may hesitate from repeat online buying if they are faced with high online complexity. Implications and future research directions are discussed.
Translation - French Cette étude a mis au point et testé empiriquement un modèle permettant de comprendre quels facteurs déterminent le comportement d'achat répété de consommateurs d'épicerie en ligne déjà expérimentés. Les données ont été recueillies auprès de 198 consommateurs qui achètent actuellement des produits d'épicerie via Internet. Les résultats de Lisrel obtenus suggèrent que l'attitude des consommateurs vis-à-vis de l'achat en ligne d'épicerie est affectée positivement par l'effort physique perçu hors ligne et négativement affectée par le plaisir d'achat hors ligne. L'analyse multi-groupe montre que la force de ces relations différait selon plusieurs caractéristiques du consommateur. En outre, il a été constaté qu'un risque perçu élevé d'épicerie sur Internet ne constitue pas une barrière d'action pour les consommateurs qui ont déjà une attitude positive envers l'achat d'épicerie en ligne. Les résultats indiquent également que les consommateurs peuvent hésiter à répéter des achats en ligne s'ils sont confrontés à une complexité élevée en ligne. Les implications et les futures directions de recherche sont discutées.
