Here orange juice is a mature product (mostly) and the introduction of this new product starts in an introduction stage. To maintain competitive advantage as it moves through the PLC it should (according to Porter) be lower cost or differentiated. Currently this product may be able to achieve the differentiated approach because of its unique health ingredients, but arriving early to market and gaining experience/scale may help it against competitors price wise in the future. One problem with gaining or taking the new market approach would be this company may lack the processing or marketing skills to match its competitors. In the introductory phase it would be good to develop the brand and have it strongly associated with healthy/brain drink qualities which may be utilised later for other products.
