Source text - English Nobody believes in monsters anymore. Not really. Even children, who are supposed to be the more gullible creatures in the world, have stopped believing. But not believing in something doesn’t make it disappear; not seeing something doesn’t mean it’s not there. Monsters exist. They always have, and they always will. They are wise, though, and they have decided to hide themselves in order to protect their kin. All monsters are not the same, just as every human being is different. There are monsters as tall as a house, and others as tiny as a rat. There are monsters that are better than others: they are nicer, lovelier, happier. There are monsters that make fun of other monsters, and monsters who bully other monsters because they are stronger or meaner. There are monsters that believe humanity is nothing but a plague that will soon be over. There are monsters that believe in humans.
Ome is one of those monsters. It lives in the forest; it has lived there for as long as it can recall. It’s as tall as some of the trees there, it looks like a giant. It can easily hide among the foliage of the forest, as he is covered from head to toes with brown and orange leaves. It makes it a little difficult for it to stay hidden, actually, but I’ve only seen it out on the open during autumn, and it did it pretty easily then. I don’t know how it lives the rest of the year though. It has never told me, but that’s because we don’t talk the same language. And it’s not as if I haven’t tried. I’ve spoken to him in both English and Arabic, but nothing. We’ve known each other for more than 50 years, and we can’t communicate with words. However, we soon realised we didn’t need them. It was not words that brought us together, nor what has kept us like that. We both liked nature and mysteries, and that was what we were to each other. It was a mystery to be solved, and I was the outcome of hundreds of years of nature’s evolution. But more importantly, we were friends.
Translation - Spanish Ya nadie cree en los monstruos. No de verdad. Incluso los niños, que se supone que son las criaturas más inocentes del mundo, han dejado de creer. Pero no creer en algo no hace que desaparezca; que no lo veas no implica que no esté ahí. Los monstruos existen. Siempre lo han hecho y siempre lo harán. Pero son muy sabios, y han decidido esconderse para proteger a los suyos. No todos los monstruos son iguales, así como todos los humanos somos diferentes. Algunos mons-truos son tan altos como una casa; otros, tan pequeños como una rata. Algunos monstruos son mejores que otros: más amables, más agradables, más felices. Algunos monstruos se ríen de sus compañeros, y otros, más fuertes o más crueles, se meten con ellos. Algunos monstruos creen que los huma-nos no somos más que una plaga que acabará pronto. Algunos monstruos creen en los humanos.
Ome es uno de esos monstruos. Vive en el bosque; ha vivido allí durante tanto como le alcanza la memoria. Es tan alto como algunos árboles; parece un gigante. Se camufla con facilidad entre el follaje del bosque, ya que está cubierto de hojas naranjas y marrones de pies a cabeza. En realidad, eso hace que le sea un poco difícil permanecer escondido, pero solo lo he visto fuera durante otoño, y entonces lo hacía bastante bien. Aunque no sé cómo vive durante el resto del año. Nunca me lo ha contado, pero eso es porque no habla-mos el mismo idioma. Y mira que lo he intentado. Le he hablado tanto en inglés como en árabe, pero nada. Nos conocemos desde hace más de 50 años y no podemos comunicarnos con palabras. De todas formas, pronto descu-brimos que no nos hacían falta. No fueron las palabras las que nos juntaron, ni las que nos han mantenido unidos. A ambos nos gustan la naturaleza y los misterios, y eso era lo que éramos el uno para el otro. Ome era un misterio por descubrir, y yo, el resultado de miles de años de evolución natural. Pero, lo más importante: éramos amigos.

I studied Translation and Interpreting with an English-Spanish combination, and Russian as an additional language. At the moment I work primarily with English, and occasionally with Basque.
One of the things I like most is educating myself and learning new things, and I try to do so whenever I have the time, both with free and regulated courses. I am currently studying French, and I have an intermediate level. I am also taking a course on Proofreading in Spanish.
Regarding my interests, localization is one of the areas that stands out for me, together with subtitling and literary translation. I took a curse called “Localization of software and mobile applications” via Trágora formación, which broadened my interest in this area.
Moreover, I am also a writer. I am currently writing my second novel, together with my co-author.
