Bio
I have a different approach toward translation and I use different technique while translating, which other translators seldom bother about. While translating, I search the subject matter on Internet and collect the required information. My vast search has given me large number of domain-wise materials. I also study materials from bilingual (Russian, English) websites to improve translation quality as part of my R&D work.

I have a collection of books from the following subjects:
Automotive, aeronautical engineering, banking & finance, civil engineering, environment & ecology, geology, IT & internet, Law, medical (general & pharma), mechanical engineering, metallurgy, military & defence, nuclear science, oil & gas, real estate, shipbuilding, telecommunications, tourism & travel.

THE BASIC DIFFICULTIES IN TRANSLATION FROM EXPERIENCE
Russian language has its own peculiarities and English has its own. While translating, one should make sure that the translated English text is not influenced by the peculiarities of Russian language and should seem to have been originally produced in the target language.

Following are the most common and obvious instances neglected or unnoticed by translators with this respect:
Wrong choice of articles: Unlike English, Russian has no articles (a, an, the), and therefore, while translating a Russian sentence once must make sure that the appropriate article is used.
Angle quotation marks in Russian («») – These Russian quotes are used to denote some proper nouns like names of organizations, direct speech etc.
Most translators replace these quotes with the English ones (“”) every time even in case of proper nouns, which is not needed in English.
Number sign in Russian (№) – Most translators retain this sign in English translation and this is not correct. It should be replaced with ‘No., #, number’ or as appropriate in English.
Abbreviations & acronyms – Abbreviations are to be rendered in English as is the practice. Some are transliterated. For example, ГОСТ (GOST), ИТ (IT) etc.
Some are translated. For example, СМИ (media), УКПГ - установка комплексной подготовки газа (gas treatment plant or gas treatment unit).
Some Russian acronyms have their own counterparts in English. For example, САПР - Система автоматизированного проектирования (CAD – Computer-aided Design), НДС - налог на добавленную стоимость (VAT – Value Added Tax)

I MAINTAIN THE FOLLOWING TRANSLATION PROCESS:
Project approval from client ->> Review of source material ->>Getting familiar with the subject matter, specific terminology etc. ->> Looking for possible reference material on internet & from different sources ->> Translation ->> Revision of translation with various quality checks ->> Final translation ->> Delivery to client
