I am a native speaker of both Greek and Italian languages, as my mother is Italian and my father Greek. I have lived, educated and worked in both countries, while I have also lived for 1 year in England, in order to ameliorate my English.
I was always interested in linguistic issues. I guess this is the destiny for many of those that were born bilinguals. Since some years I am conducing a research for the Greek-speaking minorities of South Italy and their two beautiful and ancient idiomatic languages, the "Griko" and the "Graecanic", which are facing, since many decades, the risk of extinguishment. For this purposes, I have done some multimedia projects.
So, words aren't just "words" for me. Aren't just a job, a way to communicate some thoughts, or a nice hobby... This row of words, that always accompany our lives, is one of the oldest and longest vehicle we possess, through which we can learn about our past, talk about our present and imagine our future. |
