I have no idea what the abbreviations stand for, and they may be English or Danish, as the text uses both for management jargon, though it does try to use Danish where there are meaningful Danish equivalents.

It's all about increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty as a way of increasing profits...

Thanks everyone! I chose to write expressions like 'Employee Development' and 'Employee Performance Review' in full, as space was not a problem, and there were very few abbreviations in the text. Many readers, like me, might not immediately know what the abbreviations stood for.

But when I've caught up on sleep ;-) I'll be following up on some of your leads - it may come up another time!

Til Anna: Tak, det var alle tiders hj�lp :-) Fra dit danske forslag tror jeg, det hedder 'Personnel Development' og Employee Interviews' p� engelsk.

Det har jeg skrevet lige nu - deadline er p� tirsdag, men der er mange sider at overs�tte/ l�se korrektur p� endnu!

På min arbejdsplads kaldes det PU-samtaler - personaleudviklingssamtaler. Jeg tror de mener at disse scorecards skal indgå som en del af samtalerne.

HR / PDR Process

HR is the common abbreviation for Human Resource
PDR is a less common abbreviation used by some companies for Personal Development Review

The balanced scorecard was originally publicized in an article by Kaplan 1992 in the Harvard Business Review titled "The Balanced Scorecard - Measures that Drive Performance." This gives a good explanation of the Balanced Scorecard if need be.

If indeed PU/MS means personaludviklings/medarbejssamtale proces then this would be called the HR process and personal development review in the company I am studying. Even though HR is predominantly for employing it also governs the process used for employees personal development.

While researching "medarbejderudviklingssamtale", I came across this helpful discussion of the same, at pages 2 of the linked proceedings report:

"In the case of the job appraisal interviews, this means that instead of being a measuring tool for employee performance, thereby focusing on past elements, in Denmark most companies have a focus on employee development and thereby a focus on future aspects. This also shows in the terminology for job appraisal interviews, which are called 'medarbejderudviklingssamtaler', translated into English 'employee development conversations'."

This also seems to me a wonderful example of how critical it is for a translator to understand the social and cultural context of the source text! :-)
