In the end I rephrased and referred to love and sincerity or undemanding love, which seemed to work in the context of a child's direct, uncomplicated love.

Hi Christine, I don't think you can mirror this in the translation, I'd simply go for love and honesty as suggested by yourself. Like you said, the meaning is the most important and if you try to play with other words, I think you'd lose the meaning... Good luck!
