Arabic term

ولا هم يحزنون

Arabic to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
Hi everyone,

I thought this verb means to grieve, so I don't get how it fits in the context of a beach and a holiday. This is from a North African text.

أمكننا رؤية الشاطئ تحتنا. لم يكن هناك أحد من المصطافين فيه. لا مصيف ولا هم يحزنون.

Thank you!

I think it means "and nothing at all." The expression is also employed as a dialect(which means, it doesn't mean the same as in Standard Arabic). For instance, in my country, it's utilized as a synonym for absolutely nothing. It suggests that there are no individuals mourning over something or life in general.
