agree chica nueva : Great link! Yeah, well. I found a link which set out the Western system:Executive Chef, then the Chef de Partie, aka station cook or line cook. There are often more than one known as First Cook, Second Cook etc or according to their specialities.

I think English is allowed to use this expression (to avoid the tautological chief chef)
