Discussion

Stuart Hoskins Mar 19, 2013:
Off topic I hope this isn't against the rules for me to ask here, but can you explain why the question is targeted to Czech speakers? Surely it is logical that those of us who are lucky enough to translate solely into our native language (in my case English) have translated hundreds, even thousands, of texts from Czech and Slovak much like the one you are dealing with now and so have seen these phrases in their "natural environment" perhaps more times than native Czech speakers. The same applies to CS>EN questions - I fully respect that my Czech colleagues have seen many more English source texts than me. While acknowledging completely that Czech translators are clearly much more skilled than me in that they often translate into a non-native language, I would be curious to know if anyone else sees my logic or whether I am, in fact, quite mad (the same thing recently occurred on the EN>SK pages concerning accounting questions, which I see dozens of times a year when translating annual reports).
