Portuguese term

Banzas e Sobados

Portuguese to English Social Sciences Anthropology Angolan society structures
"...os povos das aldeias existentes, que hoje ainda são só dez por cento do que em tempos havia, mas que começam a organizar-se à volta dos Sobas, formando as Banzas e os Sobados."

I understand that a Soba is a West African tribal chief, so I imagine that Banzas and Sobados are some sort of social organisation. Maybe they don't need to be translated but I'd like that confirmed if possible, so I'm sure I'm using the terms correctly in context.

Angolan Portuguese, of course.

Banzas and Sobados

Though I speak Brazilian Portuguese and couldn't give you the equivalent term in Angolan, I hope this helps you. I think you shouldn't translate it, just use the original term and an explanation in parentheses.

Banza = senzala = slave house or quarter where a traditional chief lives
Sobado = territory governed by a soba.
Soba = chief of African tribe
