secound round of the elections

Depending on the context, it could also be a re-run of the elections.

A re-run of an election is usually when there is a dispute involved (usual thing in Africa when there are elections!!).

This is the most common term used for a "second round of elections", at least in US English.

Exactly. On a newscast, or in a newspaper story, one would more likely see "run-off". Obrigado, Jonas.

Peer comment(s):

disagree Robert Forstag : Ricardo used very poor English here as a result of literally translating "segundo turno" from Portuguese. One would simply never see "second turn" used in English in this context.

Peer comment(s):

disagree Robert Forstag : "Bout," which is typically used in reference to athletic contests, would never be used in reference to elections, except in a joking or facetious manner.
