Source text - English Between us there was, as I have already said somewhere, the bond of the sea. Besides holding our hearts together through long periods of separation, it had the effect of making us tolerant of each other’s yarns—and even convictions. The Lawyer—the best of old fellows—had, because of his many years and many virtues, the only cushion on deck, and was lying on the only rug. The Accountant had brought out already a box of dominoes, and was toying architecturally with the bones. Marlow sat cross-legged right aft, leaning against the mizzen-mast. He had sunken cheeks, a yellow complexion, a straight back, an ascetic aspect, and, with his arms dropped, the palms of hands outwards, resembled an idol. The director, satisfied the anchor had good hold, made his way aft and sat down amongst us. We exchanged a few words lazily. Afterwards there was silence on board the yacht. For some reason or other we did not begin that game of dominoes. We felt meditative, and fit for nothing but placid staring.
The day was ending in a serenity of still and exquisite brilliance. The water shone pacifically; the sky, without a speck, was a benign immensity of unstained light; the very mist on the Essex marsh was like a gauzy and radiant fabric, hung from the wooded rises inland, and draping the low shores in diaphanous folds. Only the gloom to the west, brooding over the upper reaches, became more sombre every minute, as if angered by the approach of the sun.

Selain menggenggam jiwa lewat perjalanan panjang, ia pun membuat kami bertenggang akan berbagai kisah dan keyakinan. Sang Pengacara—kawan tua paling baik—karena banyaknya usia dan kebajikan, berhak atas satu-satunya bantal, dan tengah berbaring pada satu-satunya karpet di dek. Sang Akuntan mengeluarkan sekotak domino, lalu bermain dengan tulang-tulangnya. Marlow duduk bersila di kanan, menyandar pada tiang belakang. Pipinya cekung, kulitnya kuning, punggungnya lurus, posturnya kaku, dan dengan lengan menggantung di sebelah tubuh, telapak mengarah ke luar, terlihat mirip patung berhala. Sang Pimpinan, puas dengan jangkar yang tertambat kencang, beranjak ke buritan lalu duduk bersama kami; bertukar kata seadanya, kemudian cuma hening di geladak. Entah mengapa, domino tak juga mulai. Kami hanya diam, tak ingin apa-apa selain menatap ke cakrawala.
Siang berpamitan dalam keheningan yang agung dan bercahaya. Air berkelip tenang; langit, tanpa noda, menghamparkan kemurnian yang megah dan tak bercela; kabut yang menggantung di atas Essex bagai kain tipis yang berpendar, menggantung dari pepohonan, tersampir ke arah pantai dalam liukan sunyi. Remang di barat, mengambang di arah hulu, bertambah gelap setiap menit, seakan kecewa pada pergeseran surya.

I am a KvK registered English-to-Indonesian translator specializing in medical translation. I graduated as a medical doctor with additional education in genetics and biomolecular science, plus one year research internship in Radboud University of Nijmegen.
My career in translation were established as I started working for an Indonesian publisher in 2017. However, I have been venturing into this career since 2009, by translating various academic texts in medicine. In 2014, I joined HPI (Association of Indonesian Translator), and mark it as my starting year as a professional translator.
Since then, I have translated 7 books and edited one, as well as involved in other translation projects on various subjects (genetics, pediatrics, oncology, orthopedy, travel, tourism, health and wellness, and nutrition). Apart from translation, I also write scientific and popular articles, as well as short stories and novels. Some of them have been published by a major publishing company in Indonesia.
