What is Stumble? Aug 29, 2011

I'd never heard of it, but I Googled it and found Stumble Upon or Stumble! here:

I'm very skeptical of all these so-called Aug 29, 2011

The more you use this stuff, the more you give up any privacy you had. For some it may not be an issue, but I like to pretend I still have some privacy. However, at some point I suppose we will all have to admit that this incredible access to information comes at a price. Try Googling your name if you haven't already, you might be surprised at what turns up. In fact, it might even be scary.Collapse

Okay, tell me I'm cynical or overly suspicious, but I get the impression that questions like this are just "hidden" advertising for products.

I was thinking down that same line.

Don't know what it is, don't care, not interested, too busy and doing fine with all the accoutrements already at my disposal ta very much.

PS: I second (3rd?) what John-C and Thayenga said

We'll see what happens... Aug 29, 2011

Well, I just registered and chose a few preferences. If I get publicity emails before the end of the day, I'll let you know. I downloaded the toolbar too, I can always hide it if I don't like it, Norton tells me it's safe... Not clear whether it is about recommending sites or pages to other surfers and/or getting preferred access to sites who paid to be first on the list and/or receiving publicity (by e-mail or on my Internet screen): I'll see and let you know.

Does not seem relevant to my work Aug 29, 2011

I didn't know what Stumble was either, but after briefly checking out the website, it seems that it would not be relevant for work-related searches, which is what I do more than anything, so I don't think that I will be using it.

My thought exactly. I'm surprised such questions get past the vetting process.

I use it for fun. Aug 29, 2011

I don't use Stumble for my work, but I do use it just for the plain fun of it! I've discovered great websites with it!

I have had this feeling for quite a while now when I answer these polls, like the one, not long ago, about kindles...
