There is a German advertisement stating: maybe he should have asked somebody who knows his business!

But have a look yourself, this is great:

Hochgeschwindigkeitssprecherin Jan 22, 2010

Thanks. I downloaded the speech by L.T.J. and added it to my file of speeches with amongst others Sarkozy and Obama, who pronounce both very articulately.
A trained person would have been able to cope with LaToya's speed of speech.
She is a typical "Hochgeschwindigkeitssprecherin" who has a high-pitched voice and comes across a bit nervous and such speakers are the toughest to interpret simultaneously.

If you have not been taught how, you go flat on your face and start to mix up sentences, because you just can't follow. This also becomes confusing for the public.
Isn't lagging behind a bit and speaking in a slower manner or summarizing thoughts one of those techniques to get the message across.

A good interpreter would have coped Jan 22, 2010

Yes, La Toya certainly speaks a lot, but there is no excuse for this. The interpreter left out about 60% of the speech! It would have been better not to use an interpreter at all and let people grasp the speech from English directly.

And, may I add that the cost of a proper interpreter for a full day would have been 1/5 of the cost of many of the nice dresses you see on camera.

Yes, there is, and a good one!

Her dress left him speechless!

How on earth can anybody possibly cope with that?

By not anointing him/herself "interpreter",going through the proper training and acquire experience. Such an "experience" was part of the simultaneous exam at a selective school for interpreters. The female student, who interpreted the high pitched "I am not a lesbian" of a female conference participant into Dutch used exactly the same tone, speed and pitch. She got her degree of Conference Interpreter.
