Discussion

ingridleeman (asker) May 20, 2011:
It was referring to a truck's cab height. Therefore, Chest high was the best option because it is in the right context
Nick Taylor May 20, 2011:
here it is! check it out Web depth 257mm
http://www.internationalcaminhoes.com.br/pdfs/P00205_Brazil_...
Nick Taylor May 20, 2011:
34 inches 864mm is as near as damn it 34 inches, I'd like to know what the structure is intended for, and whether "bitola" is width or gauge as in railway terminilogy. (PS Portugal still runs on broad guage)
kashew May 20, 2011:
If bitola = spacing, centres of the sections, "web height" (above something e.g Ground Level) is looking even more probable. What is that dimension?
kashew May 20, 2011:
Sounds like web depth: but is it web depth (net/clear) between fillets, or overall web depth between inside flange faces? The engineer should know.
Or - something else. "Web height" above some datum is a possibility.
Must be a drawing available? What's 864? A steel section?
Nick Taylor May 20, 2011:
! Sorry! Got hung up on the Pt. It is DEPTH of web, rather than height.

neutral kashew : Hi: Depends very much on whether horiz or vert web orientation.

yes, as the "bitola" of the frame is 864mm, its probably vertical but that is just a hunch, as it appears to be a "ladder-frame" type construction

altura da alma

No perfil de uma viga, o elemento vertical chama-se alma e o elemento horizontal (um no perfil em "T", dois no perfil em "I") denomina-se banzo (in Wikipédia, PT>)
