In a judge sentence there is the following phase:

"Ved vurderingen av subjektiv skyld skal det ses bort fra selvforskyldt rus."

I have difficulties to understand the meaning of the sentence.

I believe self-induced might be more commonly used than self-inflicted in this specific case (whereas a gunshot wound might be self-inflicted, for instance).

self-inflicted intoxication

The person in question is intoxicated due to drinking or drugs, taken in by their own choice (ie not forced).
