Excuse what's probably a simple question: how do you get the number of new words out of the total word count in Trados?

Thanks for any explanation.

You need to run the Analyse function May 12, 2004

Hi Ceci:
In TW/Tools choose Analyse.
Navigate to where your source files are (Make sure you specify the file type, otherwise Trados won't see the files).
Choose all the files you wish to analyse
Create a Log file, which is where your word count will be placed
After Trados completes the analysis, you can then open the log file and there will be a word count for each of the files analysed and at the bottom there wil be a total for all the files. It reads like this:Ana

Match Types Segments Words Percent Placeables
XTranslated 0 0 0 0
Repetitions 0 0 0 0
100% 0 0 0 0
95% - 99% 0 0 0 0
85% - 94% 0 0 0 0
75% - 84% 0 0 0 0
50% - 74% 2 12 0 0
No Match 249 3,929 100 0
Total 251 3,941 100 0

Chars/Word 5.87
Chars Total 23,162

Analyse finished successfully without errors!

The No match are the "new" words, but in my book, anything less than 85% should be considered "new" words, as it is easier to translate from scratch than trying to just change or move the words around.

Ricardo

Thanks, guys May 13, 2004

My problem here was the sequence of events. The second source count should have been taken AFTER the source text was corrected and BEFORE the memory was created.
