2. adj. Ling. Se dice de las expresiones lingüísticas, textos, etc., que pretenden influir en el receptor.
3. m. nombre apelativo.
4. m. apellido (ǁ nombre de familia).

Me parece que lo más adecuado es traducir como 'to resort' en este caso, dado que las normas sociales son una institución.
