English term

outright position

On top of that, we also had an ***outright overweight duration position*** in the short end (2 year) area of the Gilt curve. Whilst the same fundamental analysis supported the view (weakening UK economy and the potential in 2006 for further Bank of England rate cuts), a significant backup in yields mid-month offered value to an ***outright position***.

agree Ralf Lemster : Spot on - regarding zaphod's comment: 'outright' is commonly used, and actually better than 'unhedged', as it also includes the absence of spread relationships such as barbell strategies (which, strictly speaking, are not hedges)

Outright Futures Position
A position in a futures contract that is not offset.

Notes:
An outright futures position means that an investor has decided against a spread strategy. Instead, he or she will be only either long or short a particular futures contract.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Charlesp : yes, but they are talking about gilts.( bonds - fixed interest securities issued by the British Government).

In plain English

'Outright position' is undisputed position.

The word 'outright' in ***outright overweight duration position*** is so far from the word 'position' that it has very little influence on the word.

Consider my explanation against the "technical" alternatives you are offered.
