Have found "kleinzystischer Auflockerung" in a description of "Subependymom" tumors on this German site: http://www.glio.de/dateien/whotum.pdf
English site on the WHO classification talks of microcystic degeneration with regard to subependymomas.

Now my text is on glioblastoma multiformes and not subepend... but I was looking for translations of "Auflockerung".
Other possibilities- vacuolation, microcystic "loosening", porous spaces. But is it "microcystic degeneration" that is being described here?

Sorry - mit "phenomenon" meinte ich, dass der Bericht descriptiv gehalten ist, "degeneration" hat einen wertenden/interpretierenden Beigeschmack. Die Vakuolen wuerden die "Auflockerung" erklaeren; so sieht's halt aus. Ich weiss nicht, ob es im amerikanischen Aerztejargon Entsprechungen gibt.
Schnee - hab schon gehoert; mein Vater jammerte schon, dass er donnerstags mit Schneeschippen dran ist (Koblenz). Ach, Ihr seit einfach nicht an den gelegentlichen Blizzard gewoeht...

Plus, glioblastoma is malign to the point of being downright vicious; degeneration may just be too much to hope for.
