Spanish term

internista

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) Medical bill
Hola, amigos!!! Se trata de un término que aparece debajo del nombre del médico. Evidentemente, se refiere al médico que interna a los pacientes, pero no encuentro un equivalente en inglés. Any ideas?
Muchas gracias y Happy Easter!!!

Hi, Muriel! To tell you the truth, I'm not sure at all..... I forgot to mention that this is a document from Mexico. Perhaps it helps.... I've never heard of such a word. Thank you for your help!
Muriel Vasconcellos Apr 16, 2006:
Are you certain that it has to do with admitting patients to the hospital? If you're not certain, then the answers below would be appropriate.

agree Zareh Darakjian Ph.D. : Definitely. An internal medicine specialist could apply to a professor of internal medicine who is not, however, an MD. Those do exist!

internal medicine specialist

Hola!
Creo que se refiere a la especialidad (medicina interna) y entonces lo traduciría así. Si buscás "internista" en Google lo primero que vas a encontrar es una página oficial con los exámenes que tenés que dar para ser especialista.
Suerte!

admitting officer

Although this used to be medical work, nowadays it is assigned to administrative staff.

ADMITTING OFFICER
Coordinates activities related to admission of patients in hospital or other medical facility: Confers with physicians, and nursing, housekeeping, transport, and other staff members to coordinate and schedule admission of patient. Assigns accommodations based on physician's admittance orders, patient's preference, nature of illness, availability of space, and other information, and enters bed assignment information into computer. Prepares records of admission, transfer, and other required data. Notifies departments of patient's admission. Reviews clerical work of interviewers and other personnel. Keeps records of admissions and discharges, and compiles occupancy-census data. May interview patient or patient's representative to obtain necessary personal and financial data to determine eligibility for admission.

Does the admitting officer system reduce the time taken to arrange an emergency admission to hospital?
