: Definitely. An internal medicine specialist could apply to a professor of internal medicine who is not, however, an MD. Those do exist!

: However, an internist is not necessary the same thing as an hospitalist. See www.hospitalist.net and http://www.acponline.org/counseling/hosps.htm. I suspect "internista" is an anglicism...

Coordinates activities related to admission of patients in hospital or other medical facility: Confers with physicians, and nursing, housekeeping, transport, and other staff members to coordinate and schedule admission of patient.
