Please tell me what does mean "handloom weaves " and "sussi" here?

loom operated by hand

Aburiaz has already proposed a very good answer for your original question.

Here I am only adding a note in answer to your supplimentary question on what handloom is.

Handloom is a loom operated by hand. A loom, as you would know, is a gadget for weaving cloth. In most homes in the Indian subcontinent handlooms were quite common till the last century. There were special classes of people who spun cloth on these looms, example julahas, to which the famous saint Kabir belonged.

With the coming of the power looms and later the textile mills the livelihood of these people crashed.

Mahatma Gandhi tried to revive these handlooms and one of the central precepts of Gandhian philosophy is to use only handspun cloth for personal use. He called it Khadi, and it was as important to him as was truth and ahimsa.

So handloom simply means a loom operated by hand. Beautiful cloth can be produced on these looms and many fashionable garments, upholstery and other products are made from it. They provide livelihood to thousands of people in the Indian subcontinent.
Peer comment(s):

agree abufaraz : Nice expalanation Bala, but unfortunately this ancient art is vanishing gradually here in Pakistan. The Govt Dept of Heritage (Qaumi Lok Virsa) and some NGOs are , however, trying very hard to keep it alive by paronising it. Regards

Thanks. Same is the case in India, although the Khadi Gramodyog Mandals are doing what they can to promote handlooms, but here too it is a dying art.

Name of a handloom product.

This appears to be the name given to some artistic handloom product which might have some features or design resembling the attire worn by 'Sussi', the heroine of famous love tragedy 'Sussi Punoo' which happened in the desert area 'Thal' of Punjab, centuries ago. Handsome poetic contributions on this folk tale have been made in Punjabi (and other native languages), in which the poets have explicitly described the beauty and other characteristics (including the dress etc) of SUSSI. Some fanciful weaver having literary and artistic taste and fervour might have picked up the design from the lines and using his crafrsmanship practically, might have produced some marvel of a fabric and named it as 'SUSSI'

This is what I perceive from 'Sussi' with respect to Weavers and Handlooms.
