English term

Chandler

Non-PRO English to French Art/Literary Novel
This is a general litteracy question about the Three Musketeers. In my text, it says that Constance's father is the "Majesty's chandler", but I doubt the term is correct. Does anyone know what it means or what the correct term is?

Discussion

Book I checked on various websites, but didn't find his profession. I don't have the book either. Does anyone have the book?
