English term

Taking Stock

English to Pashto (Pushto) Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters progress report
Hi,

I am working on a report on the condition of women in Afghanistan. The title is "Taking Stock: Afghan women and girls five years on". The report is basically comparing the current progress against the set standards. I am wondering how to translate the term "Taking stock" which I guess should mean "Update on the standards" into Dari and Pashtu?

Thanks,
Helay

جاج اخستنه or کرکتنه or Sparrana

The last one is سپرنه wiht (rray), sorry no Pashtu keyboard right now.
these translations are based on the meaning my dictionary gave for taking stocks. Which was looking critically into something or going into minute details.

Yeah I think you should do that. If, after reading the report, you have come with those two words then there should be no problem to translate it that way. at the end thats what they are talking about.
Note from asker:
Thank you very much for your suggestion. Do you think I should mention the words "standards and progress" here since it's the title of a report that compares progress against the set indicators? Thanks again, Helay

agree Ihsan Ur Rahman : In Pashto stock is used in many senses such as مرستہ، ڈاڈ، ذخیرہ، سامان and many more. So the whole means Taking or accepting daily used items
