After dislocation of the hip, the neck resection level is determined by using the anatomic landmarks (such as lesser trochanter, piriformis fossa, apex of the head, etc.) as identified during templating and can be marked with an electro-surgical knife. (Fig. 1) A broach can help assess the orientation of the osteotomy. The femoral neck osteotomy must be made at an angle of 60° to the diaphyseal axis (or 30° in relation to the horizontal). (Fig. 2)
