: Within Dresden it's certainly a cultural and physical landmark. But on a nationwide scale I feel "landmark" sounds strange./ Sure, but "cultural" in a different sense - it's a mausoleum/monument. And slightly more famous than the Semper ;-)

I think that 'symbol' better expresses what this term is trying to say, even if "Marke" is more usually translated as 'brand' or 'trademark'
