English term

nil returns are required

English to Spanish Law/Patents Law (general)
Contexto:
The court is likely to wish to hand down its judgment in an approved final form. Counsel should therefore submit any list of typing corrections and other obvious errors in writing (***Nil returns are required***) to the clerk to Lord Justice by fax or via email, so that changes can be incorporated, if the judge accepts them, in the handed down judgment.

¡Muchas gracias de antemano!

This is it Gracias, Lia. Es exactamente eso.
Lia Fail (X) Apr 23, 2007:

Carlos Montilla (asker) Apr 23, 2007:
Carlos Montilla (asker) Apr 23, 2007:
Gracias.

I couldn't fit this in the Ask Answer space, so include it all here. I originally didn't think I could answer, but I think I have meaning clear although my Spanish isn't native.

J12 Judgment
J12.1
(a) When judgment is reserved the judge may deliver judgment orally or by handing down a written judgment.
(b) If the judge intends to hand down a written judgment a copy of the draft text marked "Draft Judgment" and bearing the rubric: " This is a judgment to which the new Practice Direction -- Reserved Judgments (which supplements CPR Part 40 with effect from 1st October 2005) applies. It will be handed down on at in Court No . This Judgment is confidential to Counsel and Solicitors, but a copy may be shown, in confidence, to the parties provided that neither the Judgment nor its substance is disclosed to any other person or used in the public domain, and no action is taken (other than internally) in response to the Judgment, before the Judgment is handed down. Any breach of this obligation of confidentiality may be treated as a contempt of court. The official version of the judgment will be available from the Mechanical Recording Department of the Royal Courts of Justice once it has been approved by the judge. The court is likely to wish to hand down its judgment in an approved final form. Counsel should therefore submit ***any list of typing corrections and other obvious errors in writing (Nil returns are required)*** to the clerk to , by fax to 020 7947 or via email at , by on , so that changes can be incorporated, if the judge accepts them, in the handed down judgment." will normally be supplied to the advocates one clear day before the judgment is to be delivered.

This is a draft of the judgment to be treated as having been handed down (without the need for attendance by the parties) on 2 June 2006.
The official version of the judgment will be available once it has been approved by the judge.
The court is likely to wish to circulate its judgment in an approved final form. Counsel should therefore submit any list of typing corrections and other obvious errors in writing (Nil returns are required) to the clerk to Mr Justice Munby..

The following additional points should be noted with respect to completing the monthly return:
• The Financial Reporting templates, other than the required signatures, need to be completed
electronically (as opposed to handwritten) with a hardcopy being submitted to NZX Compliance;
• Nil returns**** are required for those sections of the template for which the Participant has ***no activity;****

Further evidence that NIL returns are associatied with a "return" even if there is nothing to report.

Excise returns

Periodic returns
You can lodge periodic excise returns if you have a periodic settlement permission detailing the accounting period in which you should lodge a return and pay excise duty. Show the settlement period on your return as a period start and end date (for example, 01.09.2003 to 07.09.2003).

You can lodge more than one return for the same accounting period (for example, where a rate change occurs during the regular settlement period). However, make sure there is no overlap in the start and end dates for the settlement period you are reporting for. The other option where there has been a rate change during the period is to complete two lines on the return for the same excise tariff item and statistical code using the different rates.

You can also lodge more than one return for the same period if you have separate periodic settlement permissions.

Nil returns

A nil return is a return that is lodged where no excisable goods have been entered during a given settlement period.

If you have to lodge a nil return, it will be included as a condition on your periodic settlement permission. Your excise industry group will also advise if you have to lodge a nil return.
