The diploma I am translating says the following:
XXX ha aprobado las asignaturas del Plan de Estudios de **Bachillerato de Educación Media**. Por tanto: le extiende el presente diploma de CONCLUSIÓN DE ESTUDIOS DEL CICLO DIVERSIFICADO DE BACHILLERATO.
Does this mean he graduated from high-school, or from middle school (equiv. of grades 7-8)? My hunch is that it's high school, but I wanted to make sure.

Here's what I found for Nicaragua: Secondary education there is more or less like high school in the US, but it lasts 5 years (and it's divided in two cycles - see below). So I'd still translate this diploma as "high school diploma" but I'd probably write "5 years" in parenthesis just to make the distinction clear.
