There were two singers, let's call them Tosto and Frosto. Tosto was a well-established star, and Frosto had just scored his first big success. Then they decided to perform together.

  -> yes I thought exponential because raising the exponens - but loosely applied in non-tech language - maybe just a wishful fantasy of mine // in contrast to RB, I think it's ok to talk about an exponential jump from one point to another, even if just powers
