English term or phrase: exponentially
I need a good synonym.

There were two singers, let's call them Tosto and Frosto. Tosto was a well-established star, and Frosto had just scored his first big success. Then they decided to perform together.

"Tosto, a legend in his own right, became by his association with Frosto exponentially more legendary."

became more legendary many times over
Explanation:
literally means "by a factor of 10 or more" but people almost always use it more loosely to mean "much more" or "tremendously"

agree  Will Matter: Incredibly more legendary.

-> thx - though w incredibly you're adding hyperbole to hyperbole - an exponential growth probably better avoided here

neutral  Cilian O'Tuama: does "10 or more" enter the equation? - I think more literally it means faster than linear growth :-)//You're right, it is about powers, but not necessarily of 10 ///I'd agree with RB if only two points are involved (but were getting bogged down in maths)

-> yes I thought exponential because raising the exponens - but loosely applied in non-tech language - maybe just a wishful fantasy of mine // in contrast to RB, I think it's ok to talk about an exponential jump from one point to another, even if just powers

neutral  Richard Benham: Exponential jump is meaningless. Ten doesn't come into it.

-> oh plenty of precise mathematical terms come to be used loosely in a non-math context - even "zero" for example. Forget I said "ten" then - but the idea is that the difference is more an order of mag. than just a jump to the next level

became a very god among the fans

Explanation:
This might be one hyperbolic alternative!

No google hits, but hey, you want something new! He's MORE than a legend.

agree  Will Matter: or, at least, a demi-god accompanied by veritable hordes of mindlessly devoted, starry-eyed groupies, all clustered around the tour buses. Ring any bells? ;0)

super legendary (in this context)

Explanation:

"Already a legend in his own right, by his association with Frosto, Tosto became a super legend."

Or even "a mega-legend."

Or: "Already a legend in his own right, performing with Frosto made Tosto a super legend."
