This is taken from a news article on the performance of a boat in the TP52 class of the Copa del Rey. Any ideas as to how to translate this term are most welcome! Thanks!

Note that 'escota' can be translated as 'sail' in English. So my suggestion would be that 'escotero' is one of various types of pulleys used for rigging the sails etc...
