It is a header for a lot of words like one, two, three... two hundred, million, etc.

गिनती (gintee)

Generally the term "number" is "संख्या "(sankhyaa) but you have mentioned that it is a header of lot of words which indicates (according to me) that it's from a chapter for learning numbers. We call this type of chapter "गिनती".

In general, 'gintee' means counting. And I strongly felt that from 'one to million' words of a language denotes the counting language of that very language. If it is used any other sense, then 'number' is just 'संख्या' or 'संख्याएं'

संख्या Sankhya is the exact and most appropriate translation.
