German term

geschlossenes Unternehmen

German to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
Can anyone help with this term please? Here is the context, relating to a company which has just merged its subsidiaries with the mother company: "Unter dem gemeinsamen Dach XXXXXX AG präsentieren wir uns künftig als ein geschlossenes Unternehmen mit den drei Geschäftsfeldern x, y und z auf dem Markt". Not many hits in Google although a few suggest the term does exist. Thanks for any help.

single company

The new company XXX AG has absorbed the old company, and will now be presenting itself to the market as a single company with three divisions (instead of three separate companies the way it was before).

My husband's comment on the use of geschlossen (meaning united):

I remember when they were talking about changing the shop opening hours and one woman said "Tja, und dann können alle Läden geschlossen offen haben....."

One of our fave phrases :-)

non-consolidated company

I get the impression that it is a company that is treated separately for accounting purposes i.e. is non-consolidated in the parent's company's accounts.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Alison Schwitzgebel : eh? I'm not with you on this. If the company has just been merged with the AG how can it be non-consolidated

private enterprise

as opposed to a company distributing public shares
Peer comment(s):

disagree Alison Schwitzgebel : if it's an AG it has to have shares (although these may not be publicly offered for sale).

That's why I said AS OPPOSED TO publicly offered shares - of course private companies can have shares! Why are you disagreeing?
