Det är två olika ord men betydelsen är i praktiken ungefär densamma. Pappersmaskinen brukar ju delas in i våtända och torrända (där torränden även ibland brukar inbegripa rullmaskiner och pack). Våtparti är kanske lite mer definierat och likställt med viraparti (maskinen delas ju in i vira-, press- och torkparti).
