I found this term in Alford & Alford, a British dictionary. I am unfamiliar with the term "parting" in this context, so it may be British usage.

I doubt there is an online version of this dictionary. The edition I have was first published by Pergamon Press in 1970 and reprinted in 1974 and 1981
